Several crashes and a tractor-trailer fire caused severe disruption on major roads across metro Atlanta on Tuesday morning, with northbound lanes of Georgia 400 closed in Fulton County and lengthy queues forming on I-85.
The Georgia 400 closure was reported at Old Milton Parkway, where all northbound lanes were blocked after a crash. Traffic was brought to a standstill and motorists were advised to use Roswell Road instead.
Further east, a crash on northbound I-85 at Boggs Road in Gwinnett County caused delays extending beyond State Route 316. Drivers were directed towards Satellite Boulevard or Buford Highway to avoid the worst of the congestion.
In DeKalb County, a tractor-trailer caught fire on the entrance ramp from Clairmont Road to I-85. Motorists were urged to stay clear of the area and use North Druid Hills Road as an alternative.
Georgia’s 511 traffic service provides live updates on road closures, incidents and delays, while emergency crews work to clear affected routes.
