Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on virtually all 115 charges relating to alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations, according to an update from David Ornstein. The club is expected to appeal against the verdict delivered by an independent commission.
Ornstein reported that the sanctions have not yet been decided and that the process remains ongoing, meaning no immediate punishment has been confirmed.
Manchester City sanctions still undecided
The possible consequences for City remain unclear. Heavy points deductions have previously been discussed, while expulsion from the Premier League has also been raised as a potential outcome.
Any appeal could prolong the process further, and there is currently no indication of when specific action might be taken against the club.
Manchester City continue to deny wrongdoing. A club spokesperson said: “The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality. As such Manchester City FC’s position remains consistent with the club’s statement of February 2023.
“The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis the Premier League board and executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair minded regulator, free from partisan influence.”
City previously said they were confident they had complied correctly with all the rules, and the club has maintained that position while awaiting the outcome of the case.
