Mark Ruffalo has urged California Attorney General Rob Bonta not to settle the state’s antitrust lawsuit against Paramount, which is seeking to prevent the studio’s proposed takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.
Addressing Mr Bonta, the actor wrote: “Don’t you dare … do not cave. 5,670 film makers put their necks on the line for you to fight this merger. Another 75,000+ and counting have signed to tell you not to concede in just 3 weeks.”
Mr Ruffalo said the attorney general’s constituents would “be hurt if you let this lousy deal filled with empty promises go forward.”
Negotiations between California, local Los Angeles officials and Paramount have continued without a resolution.
Paramount has threatened to leave California permanently after Mr Bonta launched the lawsuit aimed at stopping its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.
Officials in the Los Angeles mayor’s office and the California Attorney General’s Office had been told that Paramount would announce it was leaving the state on Tuesday, but no such announcement has been made.
