Matthew Rhys made Emmy Awards history after winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay, becoming the first actor to claim two leading-actor awards on the same night.
Rhys’s victory was one of several major honours for Widow’s Bay, which was named Outstanding Comedy Series. Kate O’Flynn won Outstanding Supporting Actress, while Stephen Root took the supporting actor prize.
Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for The Pitt, which also collected the award for Outstanding Drama Series. The programme’s nominated supporting performers included Taylor Dearden, Fiona Dourif, Katherine LaNasa, Sepideh Moafi, Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy and Gerran Howell.
Rhea Seehorn was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus. The show’s Carlos-Manuel Vesga was also nominated in the supporting actor category.
Allison Janney won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Diplomat, beating several performers from The Pitt among others.
Tom Pelphrey took the drama supporting actor award for Task, ahead of nominees including Jack Lowden for Slow Horses and Billy Crudup for The Morning Show.
Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks. The other nominees were Quinta Brunson, Ayo Edebiri, Elle Fanning and Lisa Kudrow.
The limited or anthology series award went to DTF St. Louis, completing the principal honours listed alongside the drama and comedy winners.
