A new Netflix true-crime documentary revisits the case of Thomas Randolph, the Nevada man convicted of murdering his sixth wife, Sharon Causse, and her alleged accomplice, Michael Miller.
The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part, which arrived on the streaming service on 30 September, examines Randolph’s six marriages, the deaths of several of his wives and the investigation that led to his convictions.
The documentary follows journalist Dan Slepian and Las Vegas detective Dean O’Kelley as they explore the case, which centred on a fatal shooting at Randolph and Causse’s home in Las Vegas on 8 May 2008.
Randolph told investigators that he returned home with Causse and later found her had been shot. He said Miller was an intruder and that he shot him after encountering him inside the house.
Prosecutors put forward a different account, alleging that Randolph recruited Miller, a handyman who had worked for him, to kill Causse in a staged home invasion. They said Randolph wanted to collect more than 300,000 dollars in life insurance and then killed Miller to prevent him from becoming a witness.
Randolph has maintained his innocence.
Thomas Randolph’s two murder trials
The case also attracted attention because four of the six women Randolph married had died by the time of his arrest. Those deaths did not all lead to criminal charges or convictions.
His second wife, Becky Gault, died in Utah in 1986 in what was initially ruled a suicide. Randolph was later charged with her murder, but a jury acquitted him in 1989.
Randolph was arrested in 2009 and spent eight years in custody before his first trial in 2017. Proceedings were repeatedly delayed after he hired and then dismissed lawyers.
A Nevada jury eventually found him guilty on two counts of first-degree murder. However, the Nevada Supreme Court overturned the convictions in December 2020.
At a second trial in 2023, which focused solely on the deaths of Causse and Miller, Randolph was again found guilty on two murder counts. He was sentenced to 60 years to life in April 2024.
Where is Thomas Randolph now?
Randolph, now 71, is serving his sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center in Pershing County, Nevada.
He has repeatedly sought to appeal his latest sentence. As of September 2026, the Nevada Supreme Court had dismissed his appeal and upheld his conviction.
The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part is streaming on Netflix.
