Newcastle United are interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb defender Noa Mikic, but face competition from Brentford, Ipswich Town and Hull City for the highly rated 19-year-old.
Mikic has impressed in Croatia and is attracting interest from several English clubs, with Fussball News reporting that the quartet are monitoring his situation.
The Croatia Under-19 international can play at right-back and has been credited with showing defensive maturity while also contributing in the final third. Newcastle are understood to view him as a potential long-term option in that position.
That interest comes as Tino Livramento has been linked with moves to leading clubs in recent months. Should the Newcastle defender leave, Mikic could be considered as part of the club’s succession planning.
Mikic is contracted to Dinamo Zagreb until 2028, meaning the Croatian club are under no immediate pressure to sell. Newcastle would therefore be expected to pay a premium if they decide to pursue a deal.
A move to England could appeal to Mikic, who would have the opportunity to join a prestigious club and compete for regular first-team opportunities. Newcastle have yet to make an official offer, and it remains to be seen whether they can move ahead of their domestic rivals in the coming months.
