Charges against three people arrested over a shooting at a Richardson Waffle House in Texas have been dropped, while police continue to search for the person who fired the shot that left an 18-year-old paralysed.
Taylor Griffin, 18, and Charles Webster, 17, were arrested on 26 March in connection with the shooting at the restaurant on West Spring Valley Road on 19 March. Both had been charged with engaging in organised criminal activity.
A third teenager, who was charged with deadly conduct as a juvenile, has also had the charge dropped, according to the Richardson Police Department.
Police said additional information had emerged during the investigation, but detectives had not developed enough evidence to bring charges against anyone involved. The department said the case could be reopened if new evidence or leads were identified.
The shooting happened in the restaurant’s car park after a confrontation involving a large group of people. Investigators said an argument escalated before several individuals drew handguns and opened fire.
Seth Jackson, a Richardson High School student, was shot as he tried to help a friend. He was left permanently paralysed from the waist down.
Police have not identified a shooting suspect. They previously released images of five people described as persons of interest and have appealed for information from anyone who witnessed the incident.
