Olivia Rodrigo’s melting dress became one of the defining moments of the opening night of her Unraveled Tour, transforming during a rain-soaked performance of The Cure in Hartford, Connecticut.
The 23-year-old singer stood on a secondary stage in the middle of the crowd as water fell around her. Her paper outer dress gradually dissolved, revealing a red lace corseted dress beneath it.

Rodrigo’s stylists, Chloe and Chanelle, identified the designer as Hussein Chalayan. Chalayan said he was “Very happy to have designed and developed the melting dress” for the tour.
The look was inspired by Chalayan’s spring/summer 2016 collection, titled Pasatiempo. That show featured models standing beneath showers as their clothes melted away to reveal different outfits underneath.
The Cure performance took place as Rodrigo launched her third concert tour on Friday night. The 23-song set includes major tracks from Sour and Guts, as well as almost all of the songs from her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love.
The tour’s name comes from the repeated lyric “I’m unraveled” in The Cure. Rodrigo is scheduled to continue performing around the world through mid-2027, with London dates at The O2 among the European shows announced.
