Houston police are seeking to question 25-year-old Jason Moses Guzman Jr in connection with the fatal shooting of Michael Bradley Simmons at an apartment complex on Jensen Drive.
Mr Guzman has been named as a person of interest in the investigation, but police stressed that he has not been charged and that detectives want to speak to him about the case.
Simmons, 33, was found with gunshot wounds at the complex near Interstate 59 and Crosstimbers Street shortly before 5am on February 11. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to Houston police, two Hispanic men approached the apartment and opened fire before fleeing in a small blue vehicle. Witnesses described the men as being between 5ft 1in and 5ft 8in tall.
One of the men was described as larger and wearing a black hoodie. Police said the pair were armed with handguns and a rifle and drove south along Jensen Drive after the shooting.
Authorities have not explained Guzman’s alleged connection to the death, and no one has been charged in the case.
Anyone with information about Guzman’s whereabouts or the shooting is asked to contact the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division on 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers on 713-222-TIPS.
