The pizza delivery driver who was fatally shot in the head after dropping off an order at a vacant apartment in Philadelphia has been identified.
Anshul Kuncha, 28, an Indian national, was identified as the driver by the Indian Consulate General in New York.
“We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Mr. Anshul Kuncha, an Indian national in Philadelphia, PA,” the Consulate General said in a post on X. “Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.”
NBC 10 Philadelphia also reported that police identified the driver as Kuncha.
Philadelphia police previously said the shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6 at the Raymond Rosen Homes on Edgley Street, according to reports from NBC 10 Philadelphia, WPVI and Fox 29 Philadelphia.
The driver was found “lying on the ground unresponsive, bleeding heavily with a gunshot wound to his head,” Philadelphia police Chief Scott Small said, per the outlets.
Per WPVI, the driver worked for Pete’s Pizza. Small said police identified the shop based on the pizza boxes.
No one has yet been arrested, but police do reportedly have a phone number for the caller who placed the order.
WPVI reported that police said surveillance footage showed Kuncha being followed by two people wearing dark clothing.
