A truck driver escaped serious injury after timber planks pierced the cabin of his vehicle and spilled across a busy Adelaide intersection.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Grand Junction Road and Churchill Road at Dry Creek at about 8.30am on Thursday.
The truck was travelling east along Grand Junction Road and slowing for traffic lights when the load allegedly shifted forwards. Several planks smashed through the rear window, travelled through the cabin and exited through the front windscreen before falling into the intersection.
No serious injuries were reported, but the scattered timber caused major delays while emergency crews secured the area and cleared the road.
An inspection of the vehicle allegedly identified problems with the way the load had been restrained. A 57-year-old Craigmore man is to be summonsed to court after being reported for an alleged severe-risk load-restraint breach under heavy-vehicle laws.
Investigators also found defective suspension components, and a defect notice was issued. The investigation is continuing.
