A mass shooting in Georgia left two people dead and 35 others injured during a block party in Vienna, authorities said, as police launched a manhunt for the gunman or gunmen.
The shooting took place in the early hours of Sunday in the Georgia town, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Deputies from the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling the area when they heard gunfire and went to the scene.
Two young men, Ja’Quavion Aderious Jackson, 21, and Macaleb Malik Jackson, 23, were found dead in the street with gunshot wounds. It was not immediately clear whether the two men were related.
The 35 other victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions ranged from stable to critical, police said.
The GBI has not disclosed a motive for the shooting or said how many suspects are being sought. The investigation remains ongoing.
