Save A Girl, Save A World is preparing to mark founder Glenda Gill’s 72nd birthday with a benefit celebration in Detroit, as the organisation continues its work supporting girls and young women.
Gill discussed the forthcoming event with Jamie Sherrod in an interview published on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The celebration will take place on Friday, October 16, at UAW Local 7 on Conner Street.
The evening, titled “Celebrate the Legacy. Build the Future”, is intended to honour Gill’s contribution while raising support for the organisation’s programmes.
Save A Girl, Save A World says it has spent more than 15 years providing mentorship, leadership development, college exposure, historically Black colleges and universities experiences, entrepreneurship training and career preparation for young women.
The Detroit event is due to include food, music, card games, raffles and community fellowship, with proceeds helping to sustain opportunities for participants in the organisation’s programmes.
Gill founded Save A Girl, Save A World to connect young women with mentors, guidance and resources designed to help them pursue their personal and professional ambitions.
