Rob Lowe’s eldest son, Matthew Lowe, has married Emily Markus at a ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, attended by a host of Hollywood names including Gwyneth Paltrow, Katy Perry and Cameron Diaz.
Paltrow played a central role in the wedding, officiating the ceremony for the couple. She has been friends with Rob Lowe for decades.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Adam Levine, Behati Prinsloo and Maria Shriver were also among those present as Matthew and Emily exchanged vows on Saturday.
Matthew is Rob Lowe’s eldest son with his wife, Sheryl Lowe. The couple’s younger son, John Owen, attended the celebration for his brother.
Matthew and Emily announced their engagement in July 2025, when Matthew shared photographs from the proposal on social media alongside the caption: “Lord of the rings.”
The wedding took place during a difficult period for the Lowe family following the death of Rob’s 13-year-old niece, Fiona, the daughter of his brother Chad Lowe.
Chad Lowe, Kim and their surviving daughters were photographed at the wedding, marking their first public appearance since Fiona’s death. The family has expressed its heartbreak and asked for privacy while grieving.
Despite the recent loss, relatives and friends gathered to celebrate Matthew and Emily as they began married life together.
Rob Lowe has previously spoken about looking forward to becoming a grandfather, although he has said he is not yet ready for the title. For now, the actor is celebrating the marriage of his eldest son.
