Actress Selma Blair has been arrested following an incident on a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport.
Two flight attendants reported injuries after the incident on Flight 938 at about 11pm on Sunday. One was bitten and the other suffered a laceration, according to a law enforcement source, with one taken to hospital.
The crew restrained Blair, 54, before the plane landed. Port Authority Police and the FBI were called to the aircraft, with the FBI investigating what it described as a potential assault.
Blair was taken to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation. She allegedly kicked a Port Authority officer in the ambulance and later assaulted a nurse at the hospital, the law enforcement source said.
She remains in custody.
Blair’s attorney said: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
In air traffic control audio, the pilot could be heard asking for medical staff to attend the aircraft. The pilot referred to a bloody nose and bite marks among the injuries and said the disruptive passenger might also need to be checked after apparently hitting her head on a bulkhead.
Delta said: “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”
Blair has appeared in films including Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and Hellboy. She was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2022 and has spoken publicly about her struggle with multiple sclerosis.
