Selma Blair’s service dog is safe after the actress was arrested following an alleged disturbance on a Delta flight, while she remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Scout, an English Red Fox Labrador, was travelling with Blair on Sunday when she allegedly assaulted members of the cabin crew. The dog was later collected from JFK Airport by Blair’s lawyer.
Blair is alleged to have punched one flight attendant and bitten another while the plane was in the air. After landing, she allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer repeatedly in the head while being transported in an ambulance, and later assaulted a nurse at the hospital.
She is facing two assault charges, relating to the officer and the nurse. Law enforcement sources said she was also issued with a federal summons alleging assault within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
Audio recorded as Blair left the aircraft captured her screaming, while dispatch communications indicated that she may have struck her head against a bulkhead during the incident.
A representative for the actress said she had suffered a medical emergency which led to the alleged behaviour. Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 and obtained Scout in 2021.
