A sinister code has appeared on the National Mall just weeks before Donald Trump is set to host Fourth of July celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary.
The numbers ’86 47,’ used by left-wing activists to refer to assassinating Trump, were burnt into the lawn by a ‘deranged vandal’, the administration told the Daily Mail.
US Park Police and National Guard troops were spotted on Thursday investigating the markings near the World War Two memorial at the western end of the mall.
It appears that the numbers were scorched into the grass, with the light brown color contrasting with the surrounding green of the lawn.
The incident comes as Trump has been at the center of planning for events taking place on the National Mall over the coming weeks to celebrate America’s founding. A 16-day ‘Great American State Fair’ kicks off on June 25 and runs through July 4.
Trump has also been devoted to restoring the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial, just a stone’s throw from where the markings were made.
The term ’86 47′ has been adopted by Trump critics as ’86’ comes from restaurant industry slang to get rid of something, while he is the 47th president of the US.
Former FBI director James Comey was charged with threatening Trump over a social media post showing sea shells arranged in the shape of ’86 47.’
Comey took down the post and claimed he was unaware the numbers are as a call to violence. He has vowed to fight the charges on free speech grounds.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle told the Daily Mail: ‘Anyone who engages in or endorses political violence or assassination culture must be condemned in the harshest terms possible.
‘They should also immediately seek psychiatric help to treat their severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has warped their brains and made them sick in the head.’
The Department of the Interior told the Daily Mail: ‘The deranged vandalism on our National Mall will not be tolerated. Any threat against the President is taken very seriously by the Department, and our US Park Police will investigate this incident and hold those responsible accountable.’
