Bayern Munich are monitoring Brighton defender Luka Vuskovic, although the German champions are not currently in a position to make an offer for the highly rated centre-back.
German football expert Christian Falk says Bayern have tracked the Croatia international for some time, having previously been offered the player before his move to the Premier League.
Vuskovic enhanced his reputation during an impressive loan spell with Hamburg in the Bundesliga last season. He subsequently left Tottenham for Brighton and has continued to attract attention with his performances on the south coast.
Falk said: “It is TRUE: Bayern Munich are among the clubs keeping an eye on Luka Vušković’s development at Brighton.”
He added that Bayern had been unable to make a serious move previously because they lacked both the squad space and the funds required to pursue the defender.
“Of course, he’s young and has plenty of time to develop further, so it’s natural he’d still be on the list,” Falk said. “As I say, almost in every column, if they sell Min-jae Kim or Hiroki Ito, there will be a place and the money available to sign a new defender.
“In that scenario, Luka Vušković is absolutely an interesting player for Bayern Munich, as he’s already shown his capabilities in the Bundesliga during an impressive loan spell with Hamburg.”
Falk also claimed there was interest from Vuskovic in potentially playing for Bayern, suggesting there could be scope for discussions in the future.
“But at the moment, Bayern Munich are not in a situation where they can make an offer,” he said. “Nonetheless, they’re keeping the centre-back on the shortlist and are continuing to track his development.”
