A man believed to be in his 50s has died after being pulled unresponsive from the water at Cabarita Beach on the Tweed Coast in northern New South Wales.
Three members of the public brought the swimmer ashore after finding him in the water at about 12.30pm on Saturday. They attempted to revive him before emergency services arrived.
He was taken to Tweed Valley Hospital, where he later died. His identity has not yet been formally confirmed.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and will prepare a report for the coroner.
