A 17-year-old boy is in a serious but stable condition after being stabbed in Sydney’s south-west, fleeing the scene before collapsing outside a stranger’s home.
The teenager is believed to have been attacked inside the public toilet block at Beaman Park in Earlwood on Friday evening. Police say he suffered slash wounds to his neck, back and shoulder.
After running from the park, he staggered along Flinders Road, banging on the window of a nearby house and pleading for help.
The resident, Julie, said she was at home with her children when she opened the door and found the boy covered in blood.
“He was so scared. I just wanted to calm him down and make sure he knew he was safe now,” she said.
Emergency crews arrived at about 5.45pm and treated the teenager before taking him to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains.
The toilet block was taped off on Saturday morning as detectives examined the scene.
Police said the teenager had not been cooperating with investigators and they did not yet know who, or how many people, they were looking for. Anyone with information or vision from the area has been urged to contact police.
