Parts of the San Francisco Bay Area are set for summer-like temperatures on Thursday, October 1, despite dense morning fog and a coastal flood advisory linked to high tides.
The fog is expected to retreat towards the shoreline as the day progresses, allowing temperatures to range from the upper 60s along the coast to the mid-90s in the hottest inland areas.
The National Weather Service said low-lying locations around San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay and Monterey Bay could experience up to 1.1ft of flooding above ground level. The advisory is in effect until 5pm on Thursday.
Officials said high tide at the San Francisco gauge is expected at about 2.58pm, with flooding possible in roads, parks, coastal trails and other areas close to tidal waterways. Isolated road closures are possible, and motorists have been warned not to drive through water of unknown depth or around barricades.
Warmer conditions are forecast to build further over the weekend, with the hottest parts of the region expected to reach the upper 90s.
