A dog walker has claimed he saw an eight-foot-tall, hairy creature while walking his dog in Bramham, West Yorkshire, in October 1998.
The unnamed witness said the sighting was only reported recently, after years of keeping the account private. He described being left “paralysed with fear” when his dog began reacting to something on a dark farm track.
The walk took place at about 8pm, after he had finished work. As they continued along the track, the dog suddenly stopped, stared ahead and began growling before barking loudly.
“When I turned to look up the track again, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” the witness said. “A massive creature was standing there, looking in our direction.”
He estimated the figure was about eight feet tall and five feet across the shoulders. It was covered in hair, he said, although its face was in shadow and he could not make out any features from roughly 30 metres away.
The witness said the creature made no sound and that he noticed neither a smell nor any other movement. His dog then moved between him and the figure before fleeing down the track.
Rather than run, the witness said he nodded at the creature and said: “Alright.” He then calmly followed his dog, while listening for any indication that the figure was coming after him.
“I know that sounds crazy, but that is what I did,” he said. “Inside, I was terrified.”
The witness said he did not know about Bigfoot at the time. Years later, after seeing images online, he became convinced the creature he remembered was an exact match.
