Zak Bagans’ Haunted Museum in Las Vegas has begun displaying a prison letter written by Christa Pike, along with a lock of her hair, inside a jail cell fitted with bars from a decommissioned prison.
Bagans, the star of “Ghost Adventures”, said the items went on display on Sunday. He said the letter was sent by Pike to a pen pal years after her conviction for the 1995 killing of Colleen Slemmer.
The correspondence appears to show Pike flirting with the person who had been writing to her. Bagans said she sent the so-called fan some of her hair as a birthday present, telling him in the letter to get on his knees and thank her.
“That is the only place that I feel is appropriate to display items like this. Pike did an absolutely brutal crime,” Bagans said.
He said he believed he bought the letter and hair from a murderabilia dealer in 2019, but had waited until this week to put them on public display.
Bagans said the exhibit was intended to document Pike’s “post-conviction communication as it actually occurred”.
The display follows Pike’s latest legal ordeal. She survived two lethal injections during a botched execution last month, and was later released from hospital and returned to prison.
