Donald Trump will campaign in Florida on Friday as he scales back plans for in-person appearances in Kansas and Iowa ahead of the US midterm elections.
The president is due to hold a rally in Daytona Beach, where Republican Senator Ashley Moody is seeking re-election against Democrat Angie Nixon. Republican congressman Byron Donalds is also running for governor against Democrat David Jolly, while several House contests are being closely watched.
Florida, once regarded as a swing state, has increasingly leaned Republican. Mr Trump campaigned in South Carolina on Thursday for Republican Senator Darline Graham, as he continues to make appearances across the country in support of candidates from his party.
He has frequently urged supporters at rallies to “pretend that I’m on the ballot”, despite not being a candidate in the midterm elections.
Planned visits to Kansas on Saturday and Iowa on Sunday have been cancelled. The Republican National Committee said the decision reflected the party being “in a strong position” in both states.
Instead, Mr Trump is expected to take part in telephone rallies across 19 states in the coming days.
