High Potential has secured ABC’s coveted post-Super Bowl slot, with a special episode of the crime drama scheduled to air after Super Bowl LXI in February 2027.
The episode will be broadcast on Sunday 14 February on ABC and Disney+, although an exact start time has not yet been announced. The Super Bowl is due to begin at 6.30pm ET.
The news was revealed during Monday Night Football on 12 October in a promotional clip featuring series star Kaitlin Olson.
High Potential’s third season delayed until midseason
The special episode will form part of the show’s third season, which has been moved to midseason after showrunner Todd Harthan left the series to concentrate on a new project. ABC required additional time to find his replacement.
The first two seasons of High Potential premiered in September, but the programme’s post-Super Bowl placement gives its return a prominent position in the broadcaster’s schedule. Shows airing immediately after the game benefit from the large audience that remains tuned in.
In 2024, Tracker attracted 18.44 million viewers with an episode shown after the Super Bowl.
High Potential has grown steadily since its premiere in September 2024. Its second season finished the 2025/26 broadcast season as ABC’s top show among adults aged 18 to 49 and its third-ranked programme among total viewers over 35 days across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms.
The series follows Morgan, a single mother with an exceptional mind whose unconventional approach to solving crimes leads to a partnership with seasoned detective Karadec. Olson plays Morgan, alongside Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes.
