Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone could be called the iPhone Duo, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, with the company reportedly preparing to reveal the device at its first iPhone launch event since John Ternus became chief executive.
The foldable iPhone is expected to start at $2,000 in the United States for a 256GB model, with deliveries potentially beginning as soon as October. The report says it could be offered in white and dark blue.
The device has previously been referred to as the iPhone Ultra, but the reported Duo branding would mark a change in direction for Apple. Google previously used the name for one of its messaging products, while Microsoft has also applied it to a foldable device.
Apple has not publicly confirmed the existence, name, price or release timing of the rumoured handset. If launched, it would represent the company’s entry into the foldable smartphone market, where rivals including Samsung and Google have already released devices.
