Arsenal have reportedly maintained contact with Rodrygo Goes’ representatives after missing out on his Real Madrid team-mate Vinicius Junior this summer.
The Gunners have previously considered a move for the Brazil international, but their interest was put on hold while he recovered from a serious injury. Rodrygo is now understood to be edging closer to a return, with Arsenal said to have remained in touch with those around him.
The 25-year-old is viewed as a potential alternative to Vinicius on the left side of Arsenal’s attack. However, any move would raise questions over whether Rodrygo is ready to make an immediate impact after his lengthy absence.
Arsenal’s interest in Rodrygo Goes
Rodrygo has shown his quality during his time at Real Madrid and has been an important player for the Spanish club when fully fit. Yet there is uncertainty over whether he would provide the same level of impact as Vinicius or other players Arsenal have been linked with, including Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola and Julian Alvarez.
Fitness is also likely to be a consideration for Arsenal, who have already faced recurring injury problems within their squad. The club may therefore be cautious about making Rodrygo a priority before seeing how he performs after returning to regular football.
Vinicius would have represented a major statement signing for the north London club, but with that move unavailable, Arsenal must decide whether pursuing Rodrygo is the right alternative or whether their scouting network can identify another high-level attacking option.
