Arsenal have received a fitness boost before their trip to Liverpool, with Declan Rice, Riccardo Calafiori and Christos Tzolis all training ahead of the Premier League meeting at Anfield.
Mikel Arteta confirmed the trio took part in Friday’s session as Arsenal prepare for a demanding away fixture. Noni Madueke is still due to be assessed after the next training session.
Arsenal fitness update ahead of Liverpool clash
Arsenal will nevertheless be without Bukayo Saka, while William Saliba has yet to feature this season after suffering a serious injury at the World Cup during the summer.
The Gunners have coped without Saliba so far, with summer signing Ezri Konsa impressing in his absence. His continued unavailability could be more significant at Anfield, however, where Arsenal have not won since Arteta was still a player at the club.
Arsenal also enter the game after a surprise Carabao Cup defeat by Fleetwood Town in midweek. Players were rested for that match, although a demanding run of fixtures has continued to test the squad.
Liverpool finding their feet under Andoni Iraola
Liverpool are still adapting to life under new manager Andoni Iraola, having drawn their opening two matches. Their form has improved since then, despite a recent 3-0 home defeat by Manchester City.
The Reds have won five of their last eight matches, or six if their midweek penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea is included. Arsenal will therefore face a Liverpool side that is beginning to find momentum despite its early-season uncertainty.
