Barcelona are monitoring an Erling Haaland transfer after fresh uncertainty was reported around the Manchester City striker’s future following the club’s latest legal setback.
The Norway international has remained a long-term target for the Catalan club, who are seeking a replacement for Robert Lewandowski after the veteran forward’s contract expires this summer. Barcelona have yet to bring in a new striker, while Harry Kane and Haaland have both been linked with the La Liga champions.
Fichajes reports that Barcelona are hoping developments at Manchester City could create an opportunity to pursue Haaland. City were reportedly found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them, although the club are expected to appeal any punishment.

Any appeal could leave the consequences for Manchester City unclear for several years. The situation therefore does not necessarily provide an immediate route for Barcelona to sign one of the most sought-after forwards in world football.
Haaland is also understood not to have a relegation clause in his contract, according to Sport. That would make a move particularly difficult and expensive for Barcelona, regardless of the outcome of the case involving City.
Manchester City continue to protest their innocence, but the allegations are likely to prompt questions over the futures of players at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland’s position could consequently attract renewed attention from interested clubs.
For Barcelona, however, the financial demands of the deal would be substantial. The club would need to raise funds through player sales to cover both the transfer fee and Haaland’s wages.
Haaland has scored 169 goals in 205 appearances for Manchester City since moving from Borussia Dortmund. His record has helped establish him as one of the most prolific finishers in world football, making the potential signing an ambitious target for Barcelona.
