BenDaDonnn has claimed an overly aggressive police officer sparked the confrontation that led to his arrest in Texas, insisting he and his group followed instructions before officers used force.
The social media personality discussed Sunday’s incident with fans while wearing an orange Department of Corrections uniform. He said an officer had shouted at the group to move on to the pavement, and that they complied quickly.
BenDaDonnn said the officer nevertheless put his hands on him and others in the group. He claimed an argument followed, after which he was tasered and booked into Brazos County Jail on suspicion of evading arrest or detention.
He also mocked the officer’s appearance, comparing him to Kip, the older brother of the title character in the film Napoleon Dynamite.
The College Station Police Department has given a different account of the incident, saying the group ignored an officer’s lawful commands. Police also allege that one of BenDaDonnn’s security guards slapped the officer’s hands away as officers tried to detain him.
Kenny Carter, who police said claimed to be BenDaDonnn’s security guard, was charged with interference with public duties.
