Dr Chris Brown will lead a new KIIS FM breakfast show in Sydney alongside radio presenters Amy Gerard and Jack Charles, replacing the axed Kyle Sandilands and Jackie “O” Henderson programme.
KIIS Breakfast with Chris, Amy & Jack will launch on November 9 and air on weekdays from 6am to 9am. The show is being billed as a new format for Sydney, combining entertainment with a new on-air team.
Brown, a vet and television presenter, said he was looking forward to starting his latest broadcasting role and sharing “a few secrets” with listeners.
“Waking up with the city I love and bringing a huge dose of real life, warmth and (hopefully) humour is truly a dream come true,” he said.
“This show will be all about sharing our mornings, some laughs and maybe a few secrets together. I can’t wait.
“Plus, these hours are also a great way to beat the Bondi Road traffic so it’s a win-win.”
Brown has fronted Channel Seven programmes including Dancing With The Stars and My Reno Rules. He will be joined by Gerard, who has regularly filled in on KIIS shows, and radio personality Charles.
Gerard said the trio’s chemistry already felt natural, while Charles said he was “pumped” to be joining the programme and waking up Sydney each morning.
Broadcaster and producer Natalie Penfold will read the news. She previously worked on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
ARN chief executive Michael Stephenson described the new line-up as “a big moment” for the network and KIIS Sydney, saying it brought together established names and new talent across radio, video, social media and live experiences.
The announcement follows the end of Sandilands and Henderson’s 10-year, 200 million Australian dollar contract with ARN Media after an on-air dispute. The termination led to a legal battle and a cash settlement for Sandilands.
Sandilands has since launched a subscription-based show, while Henderson’s lawsuit alleging unlawful termination remains ongoing.
ARN said its Melbourne breakfast team would be announced soon. The Sydney launch marks the first disclosure of the network’s new KIIS breakfast line-up.
