Wayne Rooney has revealed that he bought his wife Coleen a £19.99 bracelet from TikTok Shop for her 40th birthday, despite his reported £150 million net worth.
The former England footballer disclosed the gift in The Real Rooneys, the family’s new fly-on-the-wall series, after the couple discussed Coleen’s lavish birthday celebrations.
Asked whether he was good at choosing presents, Rooney said: “I got you a bracelet. That bracelet I got you, it came in a little box, I found it on TikTok shop. It was like £19.99 or something.”
He added: “It wasn’t expensive but it was a gesture, you know what I mean.”
Coleen then admitted, laughing: “I don’t even think I opened it.”
When asked whether she could expect more romantic gestures the following year, Rooney replied: “You never know.”
The exchange was filmed as part of the series, which follows the couple’s family life with their four sons, Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight.
Coleen later teased her husband’s online shopping habits when a delivery arrived at their Cheshire mansion, saying: “It’s one of Wayne’s Amazon packages. Or the TikTok shop, yeah.”
Rooney has previously said that he prefers practical or inexpensive gifts. Speaking about his own 40th birthday on The Overlap, he said Coleen had bought him a battery pack for his phone.
“The best present I’ve ever had, I get excited by stupid presents but they’re not stupid because for me I love them,” he said.
“For my 40th Coleen got me a battery pack for my phone, honestly I love it. Or like a new cap or something.”
The couple, who have been married for 18 years, have invited cameras into their home for a year to document their marriage, family life and work.
The series also features Coleen’s 40th birthday celebrations, including a surprise party for Rooney in the Cotswolds, where the pair sang karaoke and recreated the lift from Dirty Dancing.
Coleen’s friend Danielle, who is married to former Manchester United player Darron Gibson, described the couple as being “like two teenagers in love” during the celebrations.
The Real Rooneys is streaming exclusively on Disney+ from September 24.
