A convicted felon who served almost seven years for shooting five people at a Seattle bus stop has been arrested again after police in Bellevue found a loaded handgun in his pocket.
Alrick Hollingsworth, who was released from prison in February, was detained on 7 August after Bellevue officers responded to a 4.17am emergency call reporting a weapon and what sounded like a domestic disturbance.
Police said Hollingsworth was seen walking quickly away from the area. When officers tried to stop him, he resisted and repeatedly questioned their authority to detain and search him.
Body-worn camera footage shows officers taking him to the ground as he shouted that he had done nothing wrong. Hollingsworth also accused officers of racism and insisted he had only been walking along the street when they approached him.
Bellevue Police Captain Brendan Kidd said officers were responding to a high-priority call and could not allow someone believed to be armed to enter the wider community.
Officers said they found a Taurus .45-calibre pistol in Hollingsworth’s pocket, loaded with a round in the chamber. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Hollingsworth continued to argue that the arrest and search were unlawful after the weapon was recovered. He told officers: “You already got the gun.”
Police eventually placed him in a full-body restraint known as a WRAP, which is designed to limit kicking while keeping a person upright. Mr Kidd said the device was used to prevent Hollingsworth from injuring himself or others.
Hollingsworth is being held on $100,000 bail in Bellevue on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
Federal Way shooting investigation
His arrest came less than seven months after he was released from prison for a 2016 shooting in downtown Seattle.
Hollingsworth was 18 when he opened fire near a bus stop, striking five people. He was convicted in 2019 of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced by King County Superior Court Judge Averil Rothrock to nine years in prison, with credit for time already served.
He served six years, 10 months and 14 days from the start of his sentence, according to Department of Corrections records, and was released on 12 February 2026.
Federal Way police have since identified Hollingsworth as a suspect in a separate shooting on 16 June. Investigators said a Crime Stoppers tip led them to identify him from surveillance images about a week after his Bellevue arrest.
Prosecutors have charged him with first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the Federal Way case. His next court hearing there is scheduled for 28 September.
