France beat Belgium 4-1 in the Nations League at the Stade de France on Monday, scoring four times in the closing stages after falling behind to Dodi Lukebakio’s first-half goal.
The result gave Zinedine Zidane his first home victory in charge, three days after France drew 1-1 with Italy. His substitutes made the decisive impact, with Désiré Doué, Rayan Cherki and Michael Olise all starting on the bench.
Belgium took the lead in the 35th minute, but France turned the match around during a decisive final 15 minutes. Doué levelled in the 77th minute with a left-footed strike from the edge of the penalty area.
Cherki put France ahead four minutes later, converting an Olise cross. Olise then added two more goals, scoring shortly before and during stoppage time.
The second of Olise’s goals came after a swift counter-attack, with the forward finishing from Doué’s well-weighted pass to complete the late flurry.
France now lead Nations League Group A1 with 10 points, three ahead of Italy and four clear of Belgium. Türkiye are bottom after losing all four of their matches.
France will travel to Milan to face Italy in their penultimate group game next month before hosting Türkiye.
