Gypsy Rose Blanchard has rejected accusations that she lied about the circumstances surrounding the death of her former fiancé, Ken Urker, after his sister disputed her account of what happened.
Urker, 34, was found dead at his home in Louisiana on his birthday. Police records list the incident as an overdose, although his official cause and manner of death have not been released.
Blanchard said her last message to Urker was a “Happy Birthday” text. When he did not reply, she said she became concerned and a welfare check was requested.
She later told People she believed Urker had died from an overdose, adding that she did not know whether it had been intentional. “He was not in a good state of mind lately,” she said.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard responds to accusations
Autumn, Urker’s sister, has accused Blanchard of misrepresenting the events surrounding his death and claimed the pair had separated weeks earlier.
In an interview with the US Sun, Autumn alleged that Urker had ended the relationship more than a month before his death. She also disputed Blanchard’s claim that her message had prompted the alarm to be raised.
“Gypsy had no right to lie and say that it was because of some text that she sent to him,” Autumn said.
Blanchard responded in a statement shared with US Weekly, saying she did not want the circumstances of Urker’s death to be overshadowed by the dispute.
“At this time, I do not want the focus surrounding Ken’s passing to become centred on negativity or disagreements between Autumn and me,” she said.
Blanchard acknowledged that there had been tension between the two women, saying Autumn had not approved of her relationship with Urker and had made public comments about her before his death.
“I remain in communication with Ken’s family, and aside from my relationship with Autumn, those communications have been positive and respectful during an incredibly painful time,” she said.
Blanchard also alleged that Autumn had threatened Urker, claiming he had told her his sister would “go harder” publicly and add to the scrutiny he was facing. The allegation has not been independently established in the material available.
Police report reveals details of Urker’s death
A police report said Urker’s boss and Blanchard’s brother, Dylan, went to his home after he failed to attend work and concerns were raised about his recent behaviour.
They entered through an unlocked window and found him dead. Authorities noted that he appeared to have been there “for an extended period of time”.
The report said a syringe, a holstered handgun and two shot glasses were found on the bedside table. Drug paraphernalia, including syringes, a spoon and a “brown powdery substance”, was also found in the bathroom.
Dylan told police he had attended church with Urker the previous night and that Urker had made comments about being depressed and upset.
Blanchard and Urker had previously been engaged while she was serving a ten-year prison sentence for her role in her mother’s death. After breaking up, Blanchard married Ryan Anderson, but the couple divorced soon after her release.
She and Urker later resumed their relationship and welcomed a daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, in December 2024.
