Chris Hansen has condemned the film “Primetime” as largely fictional, criticising Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of him as “so detached, so unhinged, so dark, so unlikable”.
Hansen discussed his reaction during a special episode of his podcast, “Have a Seat”, in which he spoke with Jesse Watters and shared a clip of himself interviewing film-goers in Times Square.
Speaking to another audience member, Hansen said: “98% of that movie that I just saw was pure fiction.”
He described watching the film as surreal and said he believed it was insulting to people fighting child exploitation. Hansen also objected to the way the film portrayed him as an aloof father.
Hansen said director Lance Oppenheim’s description of the film as a “love letter” had changed the way he viewed Hollywood.
Although he called Pattinson a “talented” actor, Hansen strongly criticised his performance, saying: “They make him look like a character in a horror film. There’s all kinds of green hue on his face. He’s obviously having a mental breakdown.”
He ultimately awarded Pattinson a D, adding: “Tough grade, but I’m kind of the only guy that counts in this one.”
Hansen said lawyers had told him they would be eager to explore legal options, but he wanted to move on with his own projects, including a sanctioned documentary titled “I’m Chris Hansen”.
