Inde Navarrette has vowed to do justice to Rogue after joining the cast of Marvel’s new X-Men film.
The 25-year-old Obsession star was announced as the character at Disney’s D23 event in August. In a new interview, she discussed preparing for the role and her determination to meet the expectations surrounding the mutant superhero.
“I’m doing everything humanly possible because I love that character. I’ve studied that character. I want to do it justice for myself, for Jake, for what they want to portray and also for what I as a fan want her to be like. I’m doing everything, exclamation point,” Navarrette told the Los Angeles Times.
The film is being directed by Jake Schreier, who previously helmed Thunderbolts*, and will feature Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Samara Weaving, Maya Boyd and Adam Driver.
Sink has already been introduced as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Navarrette is the second actor to play Rogue on the big screen, following Anna Paquin’s appearances in X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Rogue first appeared in the 1981 comic The Avengers Annual #10. The character can absorb the life force, attributes, memories and superpowers of others through physical contact.
She also possesses superhuman strength, speed, durability and the ability to fly.
