Jodie Turner-Smith has been named in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles against her brother, Richard Smith, by three women alleging sexual misconduct and drug dealing.
The women, identified as Jane Does, filed the case in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, September 24. They allege that Turner-Smith enabled her brother’s alleged behaviour by providing housing and other resources.
A representative for the actor described the claims as fictional and rejected the allegations in a statement shared with People.
“The claims are not true. This is an abuse of the legal system, allowing someone to make up facts and file meritless legal document,” the representative said.
According to the filing, the women allege that Turner-Smith bought Smith an Audi which he used to transport drugs. They further claim she knew of “significant dangers” associated with her brother but continued to provide or make available housing, transport and other resources.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, legal fees, injunctive relief and other remedies. They have also requested a jury trial.
