Liverpool and Real Madrid have entered the race for highly rated Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch, joining Barcelona in the pursuit of the Germany Under-? defender. The 20-year-old’s rapid progress has placed him on the radar of several of Europe’s leading clubs.
Jeltsch moved to Stuttgart from Nürnberg in February 2025 and has since established himself as an important first-team player. His performances have continued to attract interest as he gains experience at the highest level.

Barcelona are understood to be particularly serious about signing Jeltsch, with head coach Hansi Flick having approved the club’s interest after being impressed by the defender.
However, Liverpool and Real Madrid could complicate any potential deal. Other major European clubs are also reportedly willing to pay about €50 million for the Stuttgart centre-back.
Stuttgart are in a strong negotiating position because Jeltsch’s contract runs until June 2030. The Bundesliga club have no obvious need to sell while the defender remains in the early stages of his development.
Jeltsch’s pace, physical strength and composure in possession have helped fuel the growing interest. His qualities also suit teams that expect their centre-backs to defend high up the pitch, while his age leaves considerable scope for further improvement.
Former Stuttgart and Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi recently said Jeltsch “has not reached his limit yet” and predicted that he would “one hundred per cent play for a top club in Europe”.
Liverpool’s interest reflects their search for long-term defensive options, while Real Madrid have also shown an appetite for elite young talent. Barcelona may currently have Flick’s backing, but a fee of €50 million would represent a significant investment.
Stuttgart can afford to be patient with a player tied down for another four years. The club may believe that another season of development could increase Jeltsch’s value further and intensify the battle for his signature.
