Chelsea and Liverpool could be forced to pay more than £100 million for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, whose rising reputation has strengthened his club’s negotiating position ahead of January.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of England’s most sought-after young players after making significant progress over the past year. His recent breakthrough at international level has added to interest in his services.
Bournemouth set £100m valuation for Alex Scott
Bournemouth believe Scott’s asking price could now exceed £100 million. Liverpool are monitoring the midfielder, while Chelsea remain serious admirers after having several offers rejected during the summer.
Scott is contracted to Bournemouth until 2028, leaving the club under no immediate pressure to accept a reduced fee. However, their position is understood to have softened since the summer.
A January sale could be considered if an exceptional offer is received and Bournemouth are satisfied with their position in the Premier League.
Scott’s increased valuation has followed his progress with England. Thomas Tuchel handed him his first international start against Croatia and praised the midfielder’s all-round ability.
“His decision making is at the highest level,” Tuchel said, describing Scott as the “complete package”.
The Bournemouth player’s versatility is central to the interest in him. He can operate in a deeper midfield role, carry the ball under pressure and contribute further forward.
Chelsea may regard Scott as a long-term midfield cornerstone, particularly after their previous attempts to sign him. Liverpool’s interest is also understandable, with Andoni Iraola already familiar with the midfielder from his time at Bournemouth.
The financial demands could determine whether either club makes a formal move. Chelsea may be more prepared to reach a fee above £100 million, while Liverpool could decide that better-value alternatives are available.
For Bournemouth, Scott’s contract and improving profile mean there is little reason to compromise. If Chelsea and Liverpool turn their interest into offers, the midfielder’s future could become one of the main transfer issues of January.
