Madonna’s full opening performance from the 2026 MTV VMAs is now available to rewatch online, following its broadcast on Sunday September 27.
MTV uploaded the performance to YouTube on Tuesday September 29, with the release featuring an alternative edit to the live transmission. The new version includes different camera angles showing more of several moments from the set.
What Madonna performed at the 2026 MTV VMAs
Madonna opened the ceremony with music from her latest era, beginning with the introduction to “One Step Away” and incorporating references to the visuals from Confessions II – The Film.
She went on to perform “Bring Your Love”, before moving into “Danceteria Afterhours”.
Sabrina Carpenter joined Madonna for “Bring Your Love”, their collaboration, while Charli xcx appeared during the bathroom sequence for “Danceteria Afterhours”.
The performance also included cameo appearances from Julia Garner, Debi Mazar, Seth Rogen, Sombr and Andrew Watt, among others.
The VMAs proved a significant night for Madonna beyond the opening number. She was named Artist of the Year and won Best Album for Confessions II, among other awards.
