Manchester United are monitoring Fulham teenager Josh King, with a fee of more than £50 million believed to be capable of persuading the west London club to consider a sale.
The 19-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most highly rated young attackers, scoring twice in six league appearances this season.
United are understood to be among several major clubs tracking King’s progress. Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with the England youngster.
Manchester United face competition for Josh King
Fulham would prefer to retain King, particularly as they continue to battle near the bottom of the Premier League. However, sustained interest from leading clubs could test the club’s resolve.
A move during the January transfer window is considered difficult, while a transfer next summer appears more realistic. King is believed to be open to the prospect of joining Manchester United.
The teenager’s development has accelerated after he began taking on greater responsibility for Fulham. His performances have added to the interest in a player capable of operating between midfield and attack.
King’s ability to carry the ball, create chances and find space in tight areas has also been noted, while he has already shown that he can handle the demands of Premier League football despite his age.
Marco Silva, who previously managed Fulham, praised King’s ability last season, saying: “He’s a big, big talent. He’s a top young player.”
For United, the interest reflects their preference for recruiting players with significant room for development. A fee above £50 million would represent a substantial investment in a 19-year-old, with potential forming a major part of the valuation.
Fulham’s asking price could rise further if King maintains his current progress. Delaying a decision until next summer may suit the player’s development, but it could also intensify the competition for his signature.
