It was home to the Prince of Darkness for a decade – but Ozzy Osbourne’s rock legend status has not been enough to find a buyer or a tenant for his lavish Los Angeles mansion, the Daily Mail can reveal.
A year after the Black Sabbath star’s death at the age of 76, widow Sharon Osbourne is still struggling to offload the Hancock Park estate that served as the family’s longtime American home before they moved back to England.
The seven-bed, 11-bath home was stagnating on the sales market with a $17 million price tag before Sharon listed it for rent for an eye-watering $65,000-a-month with high-end estate agents Carolwood Estates in June.
But there were apparently no takers – and that rental figure has now been slashed by $10,000 to $55,000 a month, the Daily Mail has learned.
And even at the reduced rate, only the uber-rich need apply as potential tenants will have to stump up a colossal $195,000 security deposit.
It now appears that Sharon, 73, is eager for their former family home to make a financial return.

The stunning 11,565sq ft property in Hancock Park, central LA, has colossal mortgage repayments.
It’s been saddled with three home loans worth a combined $18,847,000.
There are no records of any being paid off, with the last loan taken out in June 2020.
It means Sharon is forking out $82,000-a-month in repayments plus property taxes and insurance, a large sum even for a multi-millionaire.
This is despite Ozzy reportedly leaving his wife and wider family a $220 million fortune upon his death after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
When he publicly announced the diagnosis in 2020, he said: ‘I’m not dying from Parkinson’s. I’ve been working with it most of my life.’

Only ‘pre-qualified clients’ will be allowed to view the house, which features a pool and guest house, and was designed in 1929 by architect A.K. Kellogg.
Sharon and Ozzy bought the house for $11,850,000 in 2015.
The listing states: ‘Careful restorations have maintained the historical architecture, while elevating the property to a level of epic glamour with all the modern luxuries of today.
‘An extraordinary chef’s kitchen opens to the family room, breakfast room, and outdoor dining area with pizza oven and barbeque.

The property was first listed four years ago for $18 million when Sharon and Ozzy made the decision to move back to England full-time to deal with his Parkinson’s disease.
They won council approval to modify their Grade II-listed home in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, to include a pool house, orangery, garden room, health and welfare exercise studio, plus the creation of an entirely new lake in the garden.
The extension featured ‘an abundance of stopping and sitting’ spaces, ‘discreet grab rails and aids’ and ‘soft non-slip surfaces’ as well as a self-contained nurse’s flat.
Ozzy suggested he was moving back to the UK because the tax in California is too high, saying: ‘We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much.’

There is other bitter sweet news for Sharon on the real estate front.
She also put their one-bedroom apartment in the exclusive Sierra Towers high-rise in West Hollywood, on the market for $2,400,000 in November last year.
Past and present Sierra Towers residents include Elton John, Cher, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry and Joan Collins.
The tenth-floor, 1,200sq ft unit was eventually sold in April for a knock-down $2,100,000, a sizeable $300,000 off the asking price.
Although Sharon may be relieved to have shifted the swish pad, it means taking a hit as they bought it for $2,250,000 in March 2022.
