The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said deputies found multiple people shot at a Caswell County property before 8am on Wednesday, with one victim taken to Duke University Hospital and no ongoing threat to the public.
Multiple people have died in a shooting at a home in Caswell County, North Carolina, on Wednesday morning, according to the state’s Bureau of Investigation. Officers were sent to the property, in a rural area north of Raleigh, after gunfire broke out shortly before 8am. One person was taken to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound, the Bureau said, while authorities have yet to release any details about the victims or a suspect.
“Deputies arriving on scene found multiple people who had been shot. One person was transported to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound, and there are multiple other fatalities,” the Bureau said in a statement.
Officials moved to reassure local residents, adding: “There is no threat to the general public at this time.”
The shooting took place at or near a house in an unincorporated part of Caswell County, a rural area of roughly 22,000 people on the Virginia border.
