An NYC subway employee found a dead body in a utility closet near 125th Street station, where the remains of a man appeared to have been left for several days.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority track worker made the discovery on Saturday morning after opening the closet, which was located about 100 feet from the station on the 6 line.
The man was believed to be in his 20s or 30s. An insider said the body had been in the tunnel closet for at least several days before it was found.
Emergency medical workers attended the scene and pronounced the man dead.
Police do not believe a crime was committed, despite the unusual circumstances surrounding the discovery.
No overt signs of trauma were found on the body. Further details about the cause of death are expected to depend on a medical examiner’s report.
