Los Angeles Police Department detectives are investigating whether an infant found dead in a South Los Angeles dumpster is missing four-month-old baby Luna, after relatives identified a distinctive physical feature.
The discovery has raised fears that the remains could belong to the missing child. However, the infant has not been formally identified and investigators have not confirmed that the cases are connected.
Family members examined the child found in the dumpster and pointed to a unique physical trait which they believe may help establish Luna’s identity.
Detectives are expected to work with the medical examiner as they seek to confirm the infant’s identity and determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
