Nicki Minaj has urged young voters in the United States to vote Republican in the upcoming midterm elections, telling them their participation will be important to the country and the wider world.
The New York rapper made the appeal during a Saturday night interview with Lara Trump on Fox News programme My View with Lara Trump, ahead of the November 3 elections.
Addressing America’s youth, Minaj said: “Vote red now!” She also urged young people not to assume their views would go unheard, saying their “voice is very necessary right now for the country and for the world”.
Minaj said younger voters were needed beyond presidential elections because they would “reap the benefits of whatever vote decisions we make now”.
During the interview, she spoke positively about President Trump, describing him as “a very authentic person” and claiming that “everyone loves him”.
Minaj has been a prominent supporter of Mr Trump for some time, while the president has described her as a “fantastic person” and “so hot”.
She has also taken part as a celebrity judge in the Patriot Pitch Competition, run by the Trump administration’s Small Business Administration.
