Google has released factory and over-the-air images for an early September security update for its Pixel 11 range, days after some owners began receiving the software automatically.
The update, labelled “Sep 2026”, is available for the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It carries the build number CD1A.260905.001.A1, replacing CD1A.260714.001.A9.
Google has assigned the devices a September 1, 2026 Android security update level. The download reported by users on the Pro models was under 100MB, with the installation screen stating that it addresses critical bugs and improves performance and stability.
The company’s decision to issue the patch separately is notable because it is not the anticipated Android 17 QPR1 release. The update retains the initial version of Android 17, with several visual changes expected in the quarterly platform release absent from the software.
Android 17 QPR1, along with an expected Pixel Drop, has not yet been formally announced by Google. The separate patch is understood to address issues identified since the Pixel 11 series went on sale last month, rather than introduce the broader changes planned for the next quarterly release.
Owners who prefer to install the software manually can now use the factory and OTA images published by Google. The company had not initially made those files available when the over-the-air rollout began.
