Snapchat is introducing Plans, a new set of tools designed to help users organise real-world gatherings directly from group chats.
The feature is intended for occasions including birthday celebrations, study sessions and weekend meet-ups. Users can create an event, add its details and invite as many as 200 friends without leaving the app.
Invitations are sent through one-to-one chats and include dynamic Bitmoji, which change as people respond. Snapchat will also send automatic reminders to attendees before the event begins.
A new “My Plans” section on users’ profiles will provide a record of forthcoming events, as well as plans that have already taken place, while RSVP tracking will allow organisers to monitor responses.
