Stefon Diggs will play in the NFL in 2026 after agreeing a one-year, $12 million contract with the Washington Commanders. The 32-year-old wide receiver, who spent a productive 2025 season with the New England Patriots before departing, joins his fifth team ahead of his 12th year in the league, with more than $10 million of the deal guaranteed. The signing, first reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz, comes while Diggs remains involved in a legal battle with a male influencer who has accused him of sexual assault.
The move takes Diggs back to familiar territory. He grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, roughly a 36-mile drive from the Commanders’ stadium in Landover, meaning his latest chapter will unfold close to where his football journey began.
His exit from New England came at the end of last season, and the legal dispute has followed him into the off-season. The Commanders have pressed ahead regardless, committing to the receiver for the 2026 campaign with a deal that makes him one of their headline additions.
Away from football, Diggs has regularly attracted attention, and until recently he was dating the pop star Cardi B.
